2 Innovative Ways To Use Mardi Gras Beads

Did you know you can make some beautiful and unique crafts with Mardi Gras beads? In fact, if you purchase a bulk of the beads, you'll have plenty to work with when creating different items that you can use or give to other people for special occasions, such as anniversaries and birthdays.

Decorate an Old Pair of Your Favorite Flats

Do you have an old pair of flats that you love to wear because they're so comfortable? Although they're comfortable, the wear and tear may be noticeable. Now you don't have to get rid of the shoes because you can decorate them with Mardi Gras beads to make them look new again. You'll need to start by measuring the length of your flats from the point of the shoe to the very end of the shoe. You may need to cut some of the beads down so that the length is even with the length of the flats.

Once you've cut the Mardi Gras beads down into the perfect length, plug your hot glue gun into the outlet, wait for the glue to become warm, and then add a small dot on one side of each bead. Press the beads directly onto the shoe. You'll need to continue this process with rows of beads until you've completely covered the flats with beads. The wear and tear will no longer be obvious, and you'll still get to wear your favorite pair of flats with all your outfits.

Create a Decorative Wreath For the Door

Would you like to create a wreath for your front door? If so, you'll need to purchase a foam wreath from a craft supply store. There are different foam options available in assorted colors, so it's best to choose the kind you prefer to work with. Once you've purchased the foam wreath, you can get started. If you have numerous beaded necklaces, cut them in the center so that you'll have a string of beads instead of a necklace.

You'll need to use the hot glue gun once again to add a tiny dab of glue to each bead. Press the beads against the foam and begin wrapping them around the foam. Once you run out of beads, grab more necklaces, cut them in half, and complete the same process. You'll need to continue layering the beads on the foam wreath until the foam is no longer visible. As soon as you've covered it completely, leave the wreath to dry for an hour or two before you hang it up on your door. These wreaths are great to make for your home, but they're just as great to give as gifts.

If you have Mardi Gras beads, you can do much more with them than just wear them around your neck. In fact, you can use them to update the look of a pair of old shoes or to make beautiful wreaths to use throughout your home.
